Kanji Tatsumi (The Bloodcurdling Beefcake Emperor) is one of the main characters in Persona 4, the 5th main installment in the Persona series and one of the playable characters in it's fighting game sequels, Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. He returns as one of the Season 1’s DLC playable character in BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle.
Bio[]
A gruff-looking first year from Yasogami High. Despite his menacing exterior, Kanji hides a tender side to himself. He is fiercely devoted to his mother, having once fought an entire biker gang off because of the noise they made keeping her up at night, and even taught himself to sew and work at their textile shop on his off-days. Upon being dragged into the Midnight Channel, Kanji's subconscious forged his dungeon: a homoerotic-themed sauna with his Shadow as its overly flamboyant "host", to represent his desire for acceptance - for people to like him for what he truly was. He was able to find such friends with the Investigation Team, who saved him and allowed him to awaken to his Persona. Many of his friends misunderstood of his sexuality at first, until he and his friends finally learned Naoto Shirogane’s true gender from her Shadow, whom everyone including Kanji mistaken her as a boy, and Kanji already have a crush on her since their first met prior both joining the Investigation Team, even before learning her gender by luck. The flamboyance behind Kanji’s shadow is from his very obsession with cute things when he was a kid, such making little cute dolls for a hobby and sells them, and loves to pet furry animals.
Few months after the murder cases have been solved, Kanji is dragged into the Midnight Channel to be the main subject of the bloodbath tournament known as P-1 Grand Prix hosted by an impostor general version of Teddie. He has to fight to reunite with his friends who will came to rescue him while meeting with the Shadow Operatives.

- Take-Mikazuchi has color palettes of the following characters: Akihiko Sanada, Iron Tager, Odysseus (Persona 2), Bloody Chaos (Under Night In-Birth), Pyrrha Nikos (RWBY), and Goemon (Persona 5).
- In addition his Yusuke color palette could be a reference to his voice actor, Matthew Mercer, as well as both being Emperor Arcanas.
- Kanji's voice actor is Matthew Mercer, during this game's development they confirmed voice actors from Persona 4 Arena would be coming back, during that time, his original voice actor was Troy Baker.
- That happens again to Yusuke and Chrom (from Fire Emblem), where both characters have the same English voice actor.
- Kanji's title The Bloodcurdling Beefcake Emperor a jab at his sexual insecurities. Gachimuchi is a Japanese slang term, referring to very masculine homosexual men.
